Sherwood Pines Trail Centre is located not far from Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs. It’s a trail centre managed by the Forestry Commission with great mtb trails and singletrack trails to challenge all from novice to enthusiast. Sherwood Pines is where I cut my teeth in mountain biking. I’d highly recommend it for anyone starting out and wanting to challenge themselves.
The Trails
- Family Cycle Route – Green Graded, 4.8km
- The Adventure Trail – Blue Graded, 9.7km
- The Kitchener MTB Trail – Red Graded,
The Adventure trail is an off road trail, graded blue and as is suitable for all the family. Being only a short drive for me I bring the family here regularly and the kids love it.
The Kitchener trail is named after Lord Kitchener. It’s a red graded trail that is well worth a visit with a length of 13km. I know these trails well and push myself hard at Sherwood Pines. I can usually blast around the Kitchener in about an hour. It gets the heart pumping and hones the MTB skills but at any other Trail Centre I think the Kitchener would be a lower graded trail.
Sherwood pines is also home to a bikepark. Again it’s not massive but that means it’s never really busy and you get loads of runs down. Awesome if you want to take a few hours and practising getting some air.
Facilities at Sherwood Pines:
- Bike shop (The guys in here are second to none).
- Cycle hire
- Bike wash (couple of quid for a token)
- Cafe (awesome cakes)
- Bikepark
- Skills loop
- Loads for the family to do.
