Hamsterley Forest Mountain Bike Trail Centre

Hamsterley Trail Centre is one of the UK’s premier trail centres and another managed by the Forestry Commision. In addition there is a local club (Hamsterley Trailblazers) who have taken up residency there. They raise funds to develop the trails which is probably why this is a great trail centre.

Where is it?

It’s in the North East of the UK

What’s there?

The MTB trails feature something for every rider with Blue, Red & Black trails. “The Loop” skills park is one of the best skills parks in the UK. And the downhill bike park is infamous for its downhill tracks, uplift and a 4X track. It really does have something for all pallettes!

Note the blue trail is incredibly tame and gets very busy in peak. Difficult to see how it’s actually achieved a blue grading really.

The red trail is 14 miles long with a mix of steep climbs, technical sections and fast flowing downhill runs.

The black run is 7 miles long with five star reviews. Well worth travelling for if you don’t live nearby!

Which bike?

Full suspension is advised but you’d be fine on the red with a hard tail.
