Cannock Chase MTB trail centre is the Midlands premiere destination for mountain biking. The trails are award winning and very popular and feature “Follow The Dog” and the “Monkey Trail” with gradings to suit all levels from novice through to experienced!
- Follow The Dog. Red graded trail. 6.7m long
- Stile Cop Bike Park. A variety of downhill trails to practice your jumps and your commitment on the trails!
- The Monkey Trail.Red graded trail. 14.2m long
The trails at Cannock are brilliant fun. There are some technical sections, long climbs and fast enjoyable downhill sections. There are a few short black graded sections which divert off and back onto the red graded trails. Some of these aren’t for the faint hearted. Up to you whether you take them on or not.
Cannock demands a good level of fitness. By the end of the day your legs and arms will be arching and you’ll know you’ve had a great day out mountain biking.
You’ll be fine on a hardtail with a dropper post on the red graded trails. For some of the black sections I recommend you only take these on with a full suspension bike.
- A number of trails suitable for all abilities
- Bike shop
- Cycle hire
- Car parks
The trails are a combination of hand built and contractor built trails that have been an ongoing project for years thanks to the chase trails volunteers. As well as the official trail centre facilities there is a great little cafe as you cross over the foot bridge. Whilst out last winter in freezing conditions we dropped in there after completing a circuit of the Monkey Trail. We didn’t realise we were without any cash to pay but the good ladies in there sorted us out with tea and cake. We returned six months later to pay the debt. I highly recommend a stop here on your way back from the Monkey Trail before you join rejoin “follow the dog”.
